It's an honor to recommend Richard Renner for Probate and Juvenile Judge of Tuscarawas County. It's been my good fortune to know Richard and his work in Tuscarawas County communities for some time.
Recommending someone for office is a responsibility no one takes lightly. I certainly don't. Fewer "servants" prove worthy of recommendation, let alone written endorsements. It is without reservation, however, that I submit a well-deserved endorsement for Richard Renner. It's been my experience that, Richard Renner's work consistently exhibits the invaluable pattern of sound, well-informed, objective, rational and well-reasoned decisions ideally suited for being a quality judge. Too many unsuitable judges have become wedged into the benches today. If more officials demonstrated the thoughtfulness and integrity Richard has, Tuscarawas County would be better served. |

You have hit the nail on the head as to the needed change. The Juvenile/Probate court is there to be a catalyst for solutions not a stump for grandstanding shouting matches--what a terrible example for children who probably already have endured much abuse to then be further abused by the judge who should be RECONCILING situations in their chaotic lives not adding further chaos.
That position should be seen as contributing to the healing of a situation NOT further contaminating it with chaos & cruelty!!!
You have the temperment to be judicious not another "judge-judy"; that court needs to be about reconciliation of difficult situations not a forum for anger & hostility from the bench. God Bless you in your efforts to bring an enlightened and new direction to those young lives & for the healing of countless families. A family friendly court is LONG overdue. EVERYONE I speak with on the phone has heard & will continue to hear this message till the election.
With best regards for your passion & principle,

From David F. Vaughan of Raleigh, NC:
| It is time for change in the Tuscarawas County Probate Court and Richard Renner will bring changes. It is time for knowledge, experience and compassion for resolving problems; not grandstanding and gut feelings. I first met Richard in 1993 and I too know a tireless, compassionate and brilliant attorney who knows right from wrong. After successfully arguing a case for me, Richard returned half of his retainer fee to me! Beyond that, Richard has distinguished himself as a champion for the cause of justice, the defense of the poor and the protection of the innocent. Tuscarawas County needs Richard Renner to run Probate Court. |

I think Richard Renner will bring something to the position of Juvenile Court/Probate Judge that is desperately needed. I have personal experience with Linda Kate and feel that it is time for a change. Linda Kate's method of lashing out at parents right in front of the child in her court room is not constructive or helpful. It undermines the parent's authority with the child and relieves them of taking responsibility for their own actions. We as voters need to stand up and say enough is enough. It is true that families of juvenile offenders DO need some type of help at times. Most parents are very distressed and overwhelmed when things go wrong with their child and desperately want to find a solution to the problem. Linda Kate has not been part of the solution. She has been part of the problem. I believe Richard Renner is the solution that we need in Tuscarawas county. |
From Barry & Bonnie Hillyer of Dover:
| We too feel that a change is needed in the probate court system. We experienced first hand the "pre-dertermined" judgements of Linda Kate, we feel that too many times she has her mind made up before the case is even heard, just like the Anthony Harris case. This county needs someone who will take the time to listen and not pre-judge. We have heard from other lawyers in and out of this county that the way Linda Kate and the Tuscarawas County Department of Job and Family Services take kids from families is like taking candy from a baby. We feel that you bring a fresh perspective to this court and are behind you 100% |
From Linda Moore of Orrville:
| I am happy that Richard is running for Juvenile Judge. We need someone with dignity and respect helping our families in the community. I have seen Judge Kate destroy a lot of families. I have seen her devestation personally and professionally. Kate is well known in the county as being a perscutor of single moms. She has been notorious for destroying single mother families. I have also had the privilege of dealing with Richard professionally and personally. He will not make decisions without having all the evidence to back it up. My only regret is that I no longer live in Tuscarawas County to be able to vote for him. I will do my best to get him support within the county to make the necessary changes Tuscarawas County needs to move on from Kate's disaster. |
From Kandy Close of Dover:
| I've worked with Richard Renner for over fifteen years. Richard is an honest, caring and passionate person. You can see how passionate he is in everything he does. When Richard takes on a case he's in it for the long haul, intending to put the issue to rest. He is also passionate about families. Richard wants nothing more than to see families stay together, if that's what's best for the children involved. He listens to all of the facts, in a respectful manner, then makes a decision based on those facts. Richard would do everything in his power to HELP the juveniles who appear before him, in hopes that they not continue bad behaviors. Richard would bring new and innovative ideas to the courtroom setting. A vote for Richard Renner is a vote for Tuscarawas County families. |
From Sally Bernhart of Leesville:

I have been employed by Richard Renner for 12 years. I know
Richard's views on employment, fairness, and equality.
Richard will not displace any current Juvenile/Probate employee without
just cause and due process.
Regarding Richard's work as an attorney, I want to share this story: As the office manager, it is my job to triage calls - to determine if they require immediate attention. On a Sunday afternoon, I happened to be at the office when a call came in. (I am a student at Kent Tusc and Richard allows me to set my work hours to suit my college schedule). I forwarded the information to Richard and on that very same Sunday, he was in contact with the client in need. He continued the case until a positive resolution was achieved. Six years ago when Richard ran for Probate/Juvenile Court Judge, Judge Kate became angry. She was unable to see his campaign in any other light than a personal attack. After the primary was over, she treated Richard's clients so unfairly, he was forced to take the matter to the Ohio Supreme Court. In the end, Tuscarawas County's current Probate/Juvenile Court Judge recuses herself from all of Richard's Probate/Juvenile Court hearings (at the expense of the tax payers) because she is unable to appear fair and impartial. As a parent, I hope my children will never need to be before a juvenile judge. If the time comes and they do step into a Court of Law, I hope that it will be one where fairness, equality and justice is followed and respected. Richard needs your vote on March 4. Support him and you will see fairness and equality restored to Tuscarawas County Juvenile and Probate Court! |
From Marty Briem of New Philadelphia:
| Richard will make an excellent Judge. His compassion and concern for children and families will be an asset to Tuscarawas County. He will be a Judge who will look for ways to assist families who are having difficulties. He will help them find the support they need to get through the ordeal that brought them to the court. He is a good listener and will review each case to be sure that the highest quality of justice is being employed. A vote for Richard is a vote for children and families. |
From Marianne Pritchard of Dover:
| As a long time friend of Richard Renner and his family, I look forward to election day and the privilege of voting for him. He is kind, genuine and fair. I don't know of anyone I would rather have help my troubled child to get on the right track to a successful future. He will do his best as usual and treat everyone with dignity and respect. I am lucky to know him and have him as a friend and look forward to seeing him in the position of Juvenile Judge. |
From Melissa J. Campbell of Midvale:
|
I have known Richard Renner for many years and have the utmost respect for his inexhaustible dedication of advocating for the rights of others. He is passionately committed to ensuring that every voice is heard without fear of retribution.
We need a Juvenile Judge who values every voice that has an impact on our children - one who will be open to a wide range of innovative alternatives to simple incarceration. I am confident that Richard Renner would bring experience, fairness and accountability to the position. His compassion through communication will help to build a level of trust and understanding that will help our young people move forward to a better future. I am also proud to be a part of the endorsement of Richard by the labor community in Tuscarawas County. Respectfully,

From David Charvat of Wheeling:
| As a former client of Richard's in a very long legal case, I got to know Richard well. So I consider this an honor to give this endorsement. He is an honest and caring man, who works tirelessly to help those in need. If they made saints of people who are living, Richard would be the first to earn this award. There are not adequate words to express my respect for this man. So, do yourself and your county a huge favor, vote for this saint! |
From Mr. and Mrs. Steven Slatzer of Bolivar:
